Essay On FIVE POINT PROGRAMME OF SANJAY GANDHI
Or
SANJAY GANDHI AND HIS REVOLUTIONARY PROGRAMME
Introduction
Sanjay Gandhi, the younger son of our late worthy Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi had come forward with a revolutionary programme. He wished to improve the condition of the poor people.
His programme
His programme can be divided under five heading, i.e.,
(a) Adult Education.
(b) To abolish dowry.
(c) To Grow more trees.
(d) Family planning-only two children.
(e) Eradication of Caste system.
Adult education
Sanjay Gandhi believed in democracy. He knew that India was the biggest democratic country in which masses were the makers of the rules. We must educate our masters or makers the three Rs. Realising the importance and success of democracy he had come forward with a slogan ‘One teach One’. He said that every citizen must possess the elementary education. He had made an appeal to the young generation that every educated man should make one person literate, who would in turn pass the torch to another and so on. He wished to see that no one in India should be illiterate.
To put an end to dowry system
In fact, dowry system is a very dangerous social evil. It poses a challenge which it seems very difficult to meet. It has proved to be the greatest worry for the middle and the poor classes. Mr. Sanjay Gandhi had started a vigorous war against it. Hundreds and thousands of boys and girls have taken pledge not to take or give dowry. In fact it is economically, social and normally an evil. Now the youth should come forward like Sanjay Gandhi to start a revolt against this dangerous evil of society.
To grow more trees
Tree plantation is the third point of Sanjay’s programme. Youth Congress has made tree plantation an important part of their programme. Trees are the real and greatest property of a nation. They take nothing from us, but they give shelter, fruits, vegetables, flowers, greenery to eyes, wood for fuel and furniture and rains for the agriculture.
Family planning
Shri Sanjay Gandhi had rightly stressed that we should have a small family. ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’ was his favourite slogan. In fact a big family is a curse which man takes upon himself delibertaly. We should remain strict to the principle of small family. Under the growth of the population we can never make progress.
Eradication of caste system
The last point of the programme is the eradication of caste system. The real fact is that it is a shameful social evil. We all should go with the wish of Shri Sanjay Gandhi to uproot this evil.
