Export document play significant role in international trade. Following are the some characteristics of these documents –
1. Export documents are prepared by or towards exporter. These documents are prepared for self convenience as well as to fulfil the requirement of importers.
2. Laws relating to export trade are kept in view while preparing export documents.
3. Preparation of export documents is a complex activity. Procedural and documentary formalities are fulfilled for it.
4. These documents are filed with various authorised.
Export documents are fulfilled properly. These documents are different for various nations. In export function, shipment documents are prepared by forwarding agent. But it is essential to every exporter that he should have knowledge of export documentation.
Following are the types of export documents –
1. Commercial Documents – Invoices, bills of exchange (B/E), letters of credit, bills of lading, marine insurance policy, insurance certificates etc. are included in commercial documents.
2. Regulatory Documents – Regulatory documents are needed for complying with the rules and regulations which govern and control export trade transactions. It includes documents relating to customs formalities, export inspection, exchange regulations etc.
3. Export Assistance Documents- Export assistance documents are such documents which are required for claiming assistance under the export assistance measures. It includes documents prepared for packing, credit facilities, drawbacks of Central excise and customs duties etc.
4. Documents required by Importers/Importing Countries- These documents are required by the importer in order to satisfy the requirements of his government. Consular invoice, certificate of origin, quality control certificate of origin, quality control certificate etc. are included in these documents. Export documents could also be classified on the basis of depending upon the specific requirements –
