Introduction

The cycle is one of the means of travelling. It is very useful in covering short distances. Hence we see one, two or more cycles in every house. In India the number of the cycles is greater than the number in any other country of the world. In India, Delhi has the biggest number of cycles.

Pleasures of cycling

We can go on our cycles wherever we like. We do not need roads for this purpose though roads are more suited to cycling. As we travel alone on cycle, we enjoy fresh air. Out door life gives us many advantages. New scenes meet our eyes. Our mind is free from the serious thoughts. We forget bitterness of life as long as we are on the bicycle.

Again, cycle is a boon to those who live in cities and towns. They have very few chances to enjoy nature. But on cycle he may have many chances to enjoy and appreciate nature. They are quite strangers to the natural scenes and beauty. Many of them cannot go out of town for many reasons. To these people the cycle is of great use. It provides them chance to go to the country side where nature reigns. Thus they can enjoy beautiful sight and scenes of nature.

Advantages of cycling

Besides these pleasures cycling teaches us something. When we travel on it in the neighbouring area of the city, we learn the geography of the area through which we pass. It gives the opportunity to know the history and geography of the places we visit. Cycling gives good exercise to its rider. It keeps him healthy and active.

A cyclist need not travel alone. He can always travel in the company of his friends. As they go on cycling along, they (many cyclists) merrily go on talking. When they see some beautiful object, they can stop and enjoy it. They pass their time in laughing, talking and cracking jokes. Thus their time passes in merry-making.

Cycling is a kind of outdoor exercise. It improves our health. But we should not see cycle too much because excess of everything is bad. Cycle is the cheapest means of conveyence. A good cycle can be had for a little over fifteen hundred rupees. It remains in good running order for several years.

Conclusion

The usefulness of the cycle is admitted on all hands. It is a poor man’s car. It is a time saving machine. We can travel on it eight to ten kilometres a day. It is cheap too. Hence its use is growing day by day, among the busy people who cannot buy motor cycle or car. America is import ing cycles from India.
